Strategy
Existing unhealthy, inefficient, and unsustainable development is caused by the lack of systems thinking and coordination among the stakeholders involved in creating it. The GRT therefore uses systems based on holistic strategies to proactively create effective programs that reach out across industries, professions, and other boundaries.
We engage major stakeholders, and provide services to help them integrate sustainable design and construction strategies and standards.
Our strategy is to educate people commissioning and operating buildings to define their own green criteria and expectations while simultaneously training and supporting design professionals to provide the services that meet these changing needs. Concurrently, we work with policy and regulatory bodies to encourage the integration of sustainable design principles into regulatory requirements, so that eventually green building will become "business as usual."
To effect market transformation, we develop initiatives specific to particular market sectors (schools, housing, etc.) with an understanding of the forces and constraints acting on each sector (legal, financial, etc.) and their impacts on public health, natural resources and the environment (air, water, solid waste management, energy, etc.).
